Riverside Bike Ride

Hi loyal blog readers! I’ve been blog poster extraordinaire lately (yeppers...3 posts in a week!) and wanted to close out the long weekend with some photos from our bicycle tour of the river valley this afternoon. We Google Mapped the route and found out it was 15kms round trip! Not too shabby. Since I’d like to entice all of my fabulous friends and family to come to Brissy for a visit, we thought maybe these scenic shots will help do the trick!

Cute park bench with a view.

We promise to take any visitors on a sunset stroll through the river valley to behold the gorgeous views that are right in our backyard. Sooo do we have any takers?

ps - Is it wrong to find this ridiculously funny?
Gotta watch out when riding your bike...those speed humps come outta nowhere!!

Skating in a winter wonderland.

Winter has officially arrived in Brisbane, not that you can reaaaally tell. I mean, don’t get me wrong, it does get cold at a bone chilling 15 degrees, but with no snow on the horizon it’s pretty mild in my books.

Look who we found, our homeboy the deer!
So what does one do to get in the spirit of old man winter, you might ask? ...You simply set up a skating rink in the middle of the city and pretend to be in winter wonderland!
Yep, that’s exactly what went on at the Alpine Winter Festival this weekend. Luckily for Dave and I we’ve been having lots of Canadian treats that remind us of the motherland lately. From watching the Stanley Cup playoffs at the pub, to a night out on the skating rink, we are enjoying these slices of home!

Here are some snaps of us on the rink...note the plastic neon orange rental skates...stellar!!

We have been really enjoying our looong weekend here in Bris, God bless the Queen and the day of her birth! (...although it does make me wonder which queen it is that we are celebrating with a day off of work?)

What have you been up to lovelies?

All bets are ON!

Hi Lovelies!

I just wanted to share a few snaps from our eventful past weekend! It was jam packed with fun for our friend Mel’s birthday! Friday night was a girls night out shopping in the city. Saturday Davey and I woke up early and hit the Bikram studio to get the weekend off to an energized start.

It’s the Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival this month which means that all the action is at the Eagle Farm race course. Seeing as ‘Fashion on the Field’ was the theme of the event, we put on our best frocks and fascinators.

Dave has never been one to shy away from a good bet and he showed us the ropes at the track. He got luckier than Mel and I when he bet on his fave number 8 pony! It was all in good fun, the sun shined all day long and the horses were magnificent!

Saturday night we celebrated Mel and her flatmate Bec’s birthdays at their place. Sunday came early and we got a bunch of Canadians from work together to watch the Cup finals Game 2 at a local pub. It was packed with Canucks...I think every Canadian in Brisbane was in that place on Sunday morning. It made for a pretty awesome game, and Vancouver taking the win was just icing on the cake!

We have a long weekend coming up for the Queen’s Birthday...long live the Queen! So we are going to try and getaway for another new voyage!
