you can bet on us

A horse is the projection of peoples' dreams about themselves
strong, powerful, beautiful
and it has the capability of giving us
escape from our mundane existence.

All smiles with our winning ticket.

Another gorgeous day at the race track, and oh how we love to get our bets on! I mean someone has to win back all the coin that a certain someone else is losing!!

We have Dave's work to thank for treating us to a fabulous day under the marquee, with the bevys flowing and a front row view to watch the stars of the show.

Of course there was also a bit of horsing around because no one was about to rein in the fun at the race track (he he).

star light, star bright
first star i see tonight

We spent the evening walking by the wharf. Such a tranquil place at this time of night.

The last of our moving boxes went to the Pack & Send today. Soon they will begin the eight week journey across the high sea to Canada.
Bon voyage stuff!

Blissful Bali

So with two months left to really live the dream in the Southern Hemisphere, Dave and I have thought a lot about making every second count to the last minute. Before we ever left Canada, two light years ago, we created a list of our most desirable places to visit whilst living in ‘Australasia’ and this is what we came up with:
1.       Indonesia
2.       A South Pacific Island
3.       New Zealand
4.       Thailand
5.       Vietnam
6.       Japan
As we started to think more and more about moving home, we reflected on the many amazing miles we had tread... but still, I felt a little sting at the fact that we never got to go to Indonesia. You may recall an old blog post dedicated entirely to ‘Indo Dreaming’ exactly one year ago today! (Ironic, no?) (http://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=269543954605924062#editor/target=post;postID=2341115223039216154

Then there was the ‘Love’ chapter in the book Eat Pray Love – and well you know me, a hopeless romantic, suffering at the hands of a paperback. I have been absolutely set on wandering the streets of Ubud, cycling through endless rice patties, indulging in yoga retreats, meeting the old medicine man - ok, so maybe i wont actually seek him out buuuut you never know who you will run into in Ubud?! With all the fabulousness that this place has to offer I felt like I just HAD to go to Indo, it's practically right in our backyard!

Well there was only one solution I could come up with to solve this minor dilemma – book a trip to Bali! So that’s what we did. I am so ready to zen out with some beach yoga, tackle the surf when re-energized and then just lounge by the poolside haven to retreat from the hustle and bustle of life.

We had the option to stop over in Darwin for a night - so why not see the Northern Territory too! And just to ensure that my life remains hurling forward at a crazy wild pace, my sisters and grandma fly into Brisbane the day after we get back from Bali for a few exciting weeks of endless escapades.
So much to look forward to!

Blessed

A good life is when you smile often,
dream big, laugh a lot,
and realize how blessed you are for what you have.

I've set a new goal for myself this week - to have all of our photos from the past two year Australian adventure organized in photobooks, ready for print, with the orders placed through My Publisher before we leave this wonderful country. That’s about five books filled with awesomeness that I can’t wait to share with our bests back home!

It’s such a reflective experience, going through all the amazing memories we’ve made here. And when I see all that we have done compiled in one *not so* little package I can’t help but feel blessed for this incredible journey we’ve been on so far. So over the next month or so I’ll be sharing some of the “Best Of’s” as I work through the stacks of wonderful times we spent in wanderlust in the land down under!
Dave can hardly contain his excitement for another expedition - more deets to come soon!
